I’m replacing all of my summer denim with this style.
Casual weekend dressing is something I’m still trying to ace. On any given Saturday or Sunday afternoon, you’re likely to find me in oversized basketball shorts and an even bigger T-shirt—TBH, I give Adam Sandler a run for his money. I crave comfort and, admittedly, associate frumpy dressing with it. But there’s one style I need to lean on more, given the fact that it feels like sweats but looks really luxe—and Kaia Gerber just wore it.
The model’s long-weekend travel ‘fit was chic but totally practical, and I’m more than taking notes (if you see me in this exact look this weekend, no you didn’t). Gerber wore a blue, short-sleeve button-down top with a slightly cropped hem, pull-on black pants, and matching ballet flats. It was remarkably simple but far more elevated than what I’ve been reaching for on weekends. And, though I kind of want everything she’s wearing, the one item I’m immediately grabbing is that pair of pants, which alone could instantly elevate my basic white tees and sneakers.

The pants had a relaxed, loose fit, but they weren’t baggy. Instead, they offered breeziness and flow, something I prioritize when trying to beat the summer heat. And while it’s not clear exactly what Gerber’s were made from, the draping and lack of sheen gave them an almost linen look, checking off yet another one of my “summer fashion must-have” boxes.
Her style sat just above her low waist and included an elastic waistband that was so thin I almost didn’t notice it. But even though it was practically invisible, the stretchy band is the exact reason why I want the style. At a quick glance, the pants look almost like wide-leg trousers—a style that’s become a cool-girl staple—but thanks to those comfortable details, they’re something you actually want to wear day after day.
Gerber also proved these are perfect for a day of travel; they’re easy, non-restrictive, and nice enough that you won’t have to change into an entirely new outfit upon arriving at your final destination. But I also love the idea of wearing these more dressed up. Swap her cropped button-down for an oversized one, resulting in an outfit you can wear to work, or pair it with a romantic top, like this one from Dôen, for an everyday summer look.
I plan on wearing pull-on pants in place of my frumpy sweats and shorts all summer long, and, fortunately, they’re going to feel just as good. Shop more styles inspired by Gerber’s casual-chic pants, below.
