Instagram filters don’t even compare.
Winter was not kind to my skin. Between the unforgiving dry patches and loss of vibrancy in my melanin, I’m fighting to regain my summer complexion. Now that it’s almost summer, I’ve been recreating that sun-kissed appearance using my Yves Saint Laurent foundation and topping it off with Chanel’s bronzing cream for a flush of color, but with temperatures rising, this heavy, full-coverage routine was not sweat-friendly. I decided to consolidate my summer beauty lineup down to one lightweight and sheer coverage product from a brand Jennifer Coolidge uses. This led me to re-discover E.l.f.’s Halo Glow Liquid Filter.
The liquid filter skin tint is a perfect blend of makeup and skincare. It’s formulated with squalane to calm inflammation and soften textured skin, while hyaluronic acid pushes moisture deeper into the skin, leaving it plump and healthy. The versatile skin tint is available in 12 colors ranging from fair to deep. It offers a sheer to light coverage that can be worn alone for a natural filter-like effect or in combination with foundation as a radiance booster.

The Halo Glow Liquid Filter has been a game-changer in my beauty routine. It’s easy to apply with the large doe-foot applicator. All I need to do is put an even layer all over my face and blend it out with my fingers or a beauty sponge. I only need one layer; my skin is noticeably smoother, and hyperpigmentation is muted. The finish feels like there’s nothing on my skin but immediately leaves it dewy and vibrant. After a few hours, my skin doesn’t feel dry or look overly oily, without having to set it with powder, and sets with an airbrushed appearance.
I've also tried using it with other foundations and concealers and can confirm that it plays well with other products. I’ve directly mixed it with my foundations and even used it as a highlighter. Matte foundations looked less flat and didn’t dry out as quickly throughout the day. It says it in the name, and I can confirm that I look like a filter IRL. I constantly get stopped when I have it on because the light hits right at every angle.
