Summer may be just around the corner (hello, beach season!), but spring style is currently in full swing. Given that it’s a transitional season, all fashion bets are off—you can pretty much mix-and-match anything in your wardrobe, in an effort to dress for the confusing, erratic weather. A leather jacket with a mini skirt? Sure! Boots with a summer dress? Why not! Irina Shayk is certainly on board with the latter sartorial proposition: The model stepped out in New York City this morning pairing a classic black mini dress with a pair of wild knee-boots.
Sure, Shayk’s zebra-print boots—by Magda Butrym—may read as a more fall-winter piece, but the star gave them a spring feel by styling it with a short hemline. The pop of a bold print added instant statement factor to the otherwise-streamlined look. She’s certainly onto something with the shoes: zebra boots are fast becoming a new celebrity favorite.
Earlier this year, Zendaya attended the Louis Vuitton show in Paris wearing the label’s zebra-print boots—along with the matching jacket and shorts. Model Emily Ratajkowski has also donned Proenza Schouler’s zebra boots in the Big Apple, pairing them with a bright yellow trench coat.
Consider it official: the zebra boot is an unexpected spring staple. Add a pair to an all-black outfit, and your look is suddenly a lewk. (And yes, you can wear knee boots in the summer, too.) Flip-flops, who?
