And yes, they all look great together.
I closely follow the Cannes Film Festival for reasons unrelated to movies; as someone obsessed with fashion, it’s the perfect place to get inspiration. The red carpet is full of wow moments, from sparkling, floor-length gowns that serve major Hollywood glam to soft, almost ethereal styles. But, what I’m most drawn to aren’t the “event” looks; it’s the ones celebrities are wearing during their time off, as that’s summer fashion at its finest. And while there are plenty of outfits to draw inspiration from, there was only one that I immediately wanted to recreate. Andie MacDowell, you’re officially at the top of my summer mood board.
When the actress was spotted in Cannes, she was wearing an all-white, effortless look from Everlane with a pair of chic silver loafers. Oftentimes, with celebrity fashion, there’s one, maybe two elements of an outfit that I want to incorporate into my wardrobe, but with MacDowell’s, I truly felt the need to copy and paste her entire look onto myself.

Her white blouse had a wide, adjustable neck that was fastened with a loose bow as well as romantic, oversized puff sleeves. Rather than aimlessly flowing out, the sleeves cinched in at her elbow, giving shape and structure to the otherwise flowy piece. The top was then tucked into a pair of high-waisted, creamy white linen trousers, also from Everlane, that featured a wide leg and pleats; it was the perfect balance of ease and sophistication.
While breezy white-on-white outfits have long been a staple of summer, the metallic shoes—a trend Jane Fonda wore just last week—made the look feel fresh. MacDowell’s silver loafers provided a super small pop of color, but they instantly elevated the laid-back outfit; it became less “out on vacation” and more everyday-chic.
Of course, no outfit is actually that great if the only way you can wear it is all together—fortunately, each element here works with pretty much everything in your closet. The flowy top would look great with blue jeans, those trousers and a simple T-shirt would make for an effortlessly cool look, and the metallic loafers will always make a basic look better. It’s three staple pieces every wardrobe should have that, as MacDowell proved, also happen to look really great when worn together.
