She's bringing peplums back, yeah.
It is with my greatest pleasure to present to you the Lady Whistledown herself: Nicola Coughlan. This author (a.k.a. Coughlan) showed up to the Bridgerton season 3 premiere in a striking peplum wedding gown that had the ton—I mean, the internet—gagged.
On Monday night, Coughlan stepped out in New York City for the hit Netflix show premiere, looking ready to walk down the aisle (perhaps an Easter egg for Polin stans). The actress, who plays this season's leading lady Penelope Featherington, stunned in an It girl-approved Danielle Frankel gown with off-the-shoulder straps, structured midsection panels, a peplum waist, and a long detachable train.
Everything We Know So Far About 'Bridgerton' Season 3
She styled the regencycore-with-a-modern-twist dress with matching opera gloves and white pointed-toe pumps. When it came time for accessories, Coughlan stayed true to the look's regal vibes with opulent emerald drop earrings and matching rings. Coughlan's blond hair was styled in a middle part, tucked behind her ears, and worn behind her shoulders. Her glam included a dramatic cat-eye, feathered lashes, and a vibrant red lip.
On the carpet, Coughlan was joined by her counterpart Luke Newton, who plays Colin Bridgerton. The on-screen couple had fans fawning over their effortless chemistry. At one point, Coughlan looked up at Newton as cameras flashed.
Although the co-stars would make a super sweet real-life duo, Coughlan told Extra that the two are just really good friends when asked about the dating rumors. “We think it’s really sweet, I think because we truly love each other,” she said on the carpet. “I’ll never get to do something like this again, on this scale. It’s so nice having such a lovely friend that I can do all this with.”
When it came to the steamy scenes that have become such a huge part of the Bridgerton world, Coughlan told InStyle that the pals had a really “good time” filming them. “It just felt like a combination of a lot of different things,” she said at the premiere. “I’m excited.”
"The night before, I'm going to go, 'Oh my god, this is crazy!' But I'm genuinely so proud of them," she continued. "I think the feeling I had when I first watched them was so proud, so happy, they're really beautifully written."
