Her trellis-inspired gown was covered with crystal flowers.
While names like Blake Lively and Rihanna may be the celebrities that come up when you think of the Met Gala, but Sarah Jessica Parker may just be the event’s reigning fashion queen. 2024 marks the 12th time she’s attended the event and for her triumphant return to the carpet—the last time she graced the Met steps was back in 2022 for the museum’s “Gilded Glamour” exhibition—SJP wore an over-the-top fascinator-style Philip Treacy hat with layers and layers of airy tulle and a sculptural Richard Quinn dress that looked like a garden trellis covered with crystal floral embellishment climbing up the dress’s grid-like design.
Parker arrived on the arm of her bestie Andy Cohen, who wore a simple black tuxedo so that SJP's dress could have the spotlight. Her hemline hit just below her knees to reveal coordinating stockings and shoes, which both had the same botanical details as her dress. She finished the look with a long strand of pearls and Briony Raymond and Marlo Laz jewelry.

In a recent interview, SJP gave some advice for anyone wondering how to show up for the Met Gala—and for someone who has been coming since 1995, there’s no one better to offer some tips.
"All I ever think about is the theme. And influence," she said. "Wherever I go to the Met, I don't understand how everyone else didn't spend seven to ten months working on it. I'm like, 'How do you not arrive exhausted by the details of getting it right?'"
She finished, "All these people came together and worked really, really hard to put together an extraordinary exhibit…It would be so easy to find a beautiful dress to wear that night, like, that would be a great relief and like going on vacation! But that is not the assignment. The assignment is the theme."
