She took "The Garden of Time" theme quite literally.
Emma Chamberlain has arrived to walk the iconic steps at the Metropolitan Museum of Art — and her gothic, evocative take on this year’s Met Gala theme is a true work of art.
Chamberlain, who will be Vogue’s special correspondent on the red carpet, offered up one of her most exciting, sophisticated Met Gala looks to date, wearing a sheer strapless bodysuit made with delicate brown lace, a matching lace maxi skirt pooling around her feet, matching train and matching lace details wrapping around her arms. She wore her hair in a slick, high bun with two thin strands pulled out over her forehead. Her brown smokey eye and large diamond necklace added even more drama to the look.

Chamberlain's outfit offered a smart nod to the gala's theme, "The Garden of Time." With knobbly brown vines wrapping around her neck and arms and a few wispy, sheer strings of fabric hanging from her arms, she gave the impression of an ancient, mystical tree covered in cobwebs—the patron saint of the so-called "garden of time," if you will.
The look is custom Jean Paul Gaultier, the bodysuit originally appearing in the designer's 2003 fall/winter collection.

Chamberlain previously told us at InStyle that she likes to build looks around specific pieces. “It’s always finding one piece that I know I want to wear,” she said. “So it’s like, Oh, I need to wear this pair of shoes or this bag, so everything’s going around with that. And then it’s finding things that are the same color, that are the same vibe. I’m all about the sandwiching.”
We're willing to bet this vintage Gaultier bodysuit set her imagination alight when it came to this gothic, whimsical take on the Met Gala's theme this year.
