Someone get her to the Moulin Rouge.
Dua Lipa’s 2024 Met Gala look is making us levitate from our slumber. The global pop star and all-around fashion aficionado arrived to the Super Bowl of the fashion world embodying this year’s theme of “The Garden of Time” and corresponding exhibit, “Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion.”
On the first Monday in May, Lipa walked the iconic steps of the Metropolitan Museum of Art wearing a layered look that brought together a dramatic, asymmetric lacy skirt and black-and-white corset top. The skirt dipped low on her hips, revealing two cutouts and she added coordinating sheer point d'esprit gloves to add even more drama to the look. Lipa finished her outfit with her now-signature red hair parted in the middle and a huge diamond necklace along with a set of shimmering ear cuffs.
Last year, Lipa attended the gala in a vintage 1992 Chanel gown initially worn by Claudia Schiffer on the runway as a tribute to Karl Lagerfeld, who was the honoree of the night and inspiration for the 2023 theme: “Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty.” The ivory tweed frock featured a corset bodice, a ballgown skirt, black piping, and a fringed hem. She paired the archival dress with a massive Tiffany 100 carat diamond necklace, which is reportedly worth over $10 million, per Harper’s Bazaar.
Lipa, alongside Michaela Coel, Penélope Cruz, Roger Federer, and Anna Wintour, also acted as one of last year's co-chairs, now passes the baton to the 2024 co-chairs which includes Zendaya, Bad Bunny, Chris Hemsworth, and Jennifer Lopez.
The only other time Lipa has attended fashion's big night was in 2019, when she wore a vibrant and colorful Atelier Versace jumpsuit for “Camp: Notes on Fashion." Lipa went over the top with her hair and paired super voluminous waves with an ornate, bedazzled headpiece.
