Motomami is back!
Rosalía touched down in New York and brought her racing flair with her. But while the singer is sticking to her sartorial guns, she’s also taking two of spring’s biggest trends for a spin.
For a fine spring day, Rosalía donned a white striped cotton maxi dress. Complete with lace detail at the empire waist and a lace ruffle close to the hem, the dress is very in line with the boho chic revival of late. It’s a little more cottagecore than the grungy, sexy boho that Chemena Kamali showed at her Chloé debut, but it’s something we could easily see on someone lounging in a field during a Steely Dan concert.
But of course, Rosalía put her own spin on the look. Over her lightweight white dress, she wore what looked like a cross between a moto jacket and a straightjacket. The tan jacket was affixed with several black leather belts. On the fall 2024 runways, double belting became a go-to styling trick, with Michael Kors, J.W. Anderson, Helmut Lang, and Junya Watanabe (among others) giving it a try. Granted, Rosalía’s look leans a little more A Clockwork Orange than the designers’.
The singer finished off her juxtaposed look with a pair of black Rick Owens boots. But with their extreme cantilever heels, ruching details, and open square toed silhouette, don’t expect these boots to be anything less than spectacular. Between her expert melding of hard and soft and her conversation-starting accessories, Rosalía reminds us why she’s always one to watch.
