Is Zendaya retiring from tennis(core)?
This morning, the actor appeared on Good Morning America alongside co-star Josh O’Connor for the home stretch of promo for their film Challengers, which premieres Friday. With an end in sight, Zendaya’s latest look seemed to hint at the next big event on her calendar: she is cohosting the 2024 Met Gala, “Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion,” on May 6, alongside Bad Bunny, Jennifer Lopez, Chris Hemsworth, and Vogue’s Anna Wintour.
Zendaya arrived at GMA wearing a custom, fresh-off-the-runway Erdem dress. Z and her stylist, Law Roach, modified look 7 from the brand’s fall 2024 collection to create a prim tea-length spaghetti strap dress covered in yellow roses. The actor wore a shorter version of the original version, allowing the voluminous tulle underskirt to peek out from the raw hem. Also adding a punky twist are the hand-painted green stripes covering the bodice and skirt.
While Erdem sent their model down the runway wearing ostrich feather shoes and chunky pearl earrings, Roach styled Zendaya more classically, accessorizing with her go-to white Christian Louboutin pointy-toe pumps and a pair of diamond stud earrings.
But with only three days of promo left, Zendaya hasn’t abandoned her method dressing just yet. Leaving GMA, she wore a tennis ball-hued Thierry Mugler skirt siut featuring a plunging neckline and the brand’s telltale high collar and asymmetrical hemline—reminiscent of Mugler’s silhouettes from the late ’80s and early ’90s. She traded in her white heels for a pair to match her Mugler set.
Clearly, the game isn’t over yet, but Zendaya is already offering hints about her next move. Whether or not these looks betray anything about her 2024 Met Gala look, we can’t wait to see what she wears on the first Monday in May, regardless.
