Katie Holmes proves that a Canadian tuxedo can be suitable business attire.
The perennially chic actor took a stroll in New York yesterday in a denim iteration of office-friendly suiting. Holmes donned a high-neck indigo blue vest, complete with two breast pockets. She wore a coordinating pair of pants: wide-legged, tailored denim trousers, cinched with a butter yellow leather belt. Holmes’s coordinating separates are from Banana Republic—an affordable option for anyone hoping to follow in suit. (The vest is $130 and the pants are $150.)
Opting for a moment of high-low dressing, Holmes also rocked a pair of loafers from Acne Studios. The block-heeled shoes are retrofitted with high-contrast trim, distinguishing them from the scores of other classic pairs on the market. But, unlike her more attainable Banana suit set, Holmes’s calfskin loafers run for $800.
The actor, who is undertaking the role of Mrs. Webb in a production of Our Town coming to Broadway this fall, accessorized her look with gold jewelry. She layered two necklaces—one short, thicker chain, and a longer pendant–and added a pair of drop earrings. And, of course, she coordinated all of this with the subtle gold hoop in her nostril.
So, if you’re looking for a fun way to play with suiting, or simply want to give a Canadian tuxedo a go, look no further than Katie Holmes for inspiration.
