Mandy Moore left her girl-next-door aesthetic at the door while making an elegant appearance at a star-studded launch party celebrating Hulu’s collaboration with Disney+. The actress – who recently announced she’ll be starring in and executive producing Hulu’s upcoming series Twin Flames – turned heads in a sheer gothic gown that looked like it belonged in Wednesday Addams’ wardrobe as she posed on the blue carpet on April 5.
Moore’s elegant black dress, which featured a simple slip undergarment with a classic v-neck cut and a flowing fit, was accentuated by a delicate black lace overlay which added some flair to the star’s evening look. The dainty design had a sheer mock neck design and flowing half sleeves that almost reached Moore’s elbows. The goth lace overlay went down to the floor and had an extra layer of fabric at the bottom of her gown to give it some more structure. The This Is Us actress’s shoes – pointy black kitten slip-ons in a modern Mary Jane-inspired design – peeped out from underneath.
The This Is Us actress paired her outfit with a sleek, center-parted ballerina bun, silver earrings, and warm, peach-toned makeup on her eyes and lips.
Moore’s latest red carpet appearance comes shortly after she opened up about navigating competition early on in her career. In a March 20 podcast interview with 9 to 5ish, the Princess Diaries alum admits she felt like “the young one that wasn’t cool” when compared to her peers, Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera.
“I was always like, that's fine, they're in this stratosphere with this totally different world of success that I think is so exclusive. I wasn't even shooting for that or pining for that, so it didn't ever bother me,” Moore said, explaining that she’s carried this mindset throughout her career.
“I think that's because I always sort of carried the confidence within to know that I wasn't that – I wasn't just who someone wanted to sort of box me in to be. And it's something that follows me throughout my career," she added.
