My sparse edges are finally growing back.
Locing my hair was the best decision I made for my lifestyle. I didn’t have to constantly plan for my next protective style, experimenting with products that left my hair dry and brittle, and my drains have been clog-free ever since. But with the pros also come cons — and with my scalp constantly being exposed, I’ve noticed that I now have issues with a dry, flaky scalp, and after my re-tie, my scalp is super sensitive. To relieve the discomfort, I opt for Curls Blueberry and Mint Tea Scalp Treatment — and to my surprise, growth of some of my thinner areas around my perimeter.

The scalp treatment features a root-penetrating and strand-fortifying formula that uses a blend of plant-based oils and extracts, including blueberry seed oil that provides long-lasting moisture to dry brittle strands, and rosemary leaf oil that prevents breakage making strands stronger. It also includes grapeseed oil which stimulates hair growth, reduces dandruff, and soothes irritated scalp. The formula delivers an invigorating tingle to your scalp, which is great after tight styling. It’s lightweight so it won’t weigh hair down, and can be used daily on all hair types.
Scalp health is vital for maintaining locs. With my scalp being exposed, I tend to suffer from flakes, dryness, and sensitivity, especially after retightening. But my go-to solution for keeping both my scalp and strands healthy is the Curls oil. After a retightening session or a hair wash, I apply the oil along my parts and then massage into my scalp and along the length of my locs. With consistent use of this oil, I’ve noticeably improved the thickness and strength of my new growth, reducing breakage at the roots.
While I’m happy with the current length of my hair, I’ve noticed a significant amount of new growth. My once sparse and spotty edges are sprouting new hairs within just the first month. The oil also has been a lifesaver when it comes to offering instant relief to my sensitive scalp with its minty tingling sensation after retightening or tight styling. And I’ve noticed that the persistent flakiness is gone. My chronically dry scalp has never felt better. Now my mom and sister have hopped on the bandwagon and have seen game-changing results when it comes to their scalp and hair health.
