Say what you will about seasons and color theory, but Shakira has clearly found her new go-to color pairing.
The singer has been spending a lot of time in public over the past couple of days, promoting her latest album, Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran. During an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, she wore a punky black strapless dress complete with silver studded designs from Balmain’s spring 2009 collection, styled by Nicolas Bru.
On Tuesday night, she hosted a free pop-up concert in Times Square that drew over 40,000 fans. For the performance, she opted for a silver hardware-laden black tank top and cargo pants. With silver chain jewelry complementing the metallic appliqués on her clothes, she seems to be going for a sexy, somewhat futuristic look.
But for her post-concert celebration, she leaned into a more classic (albeit, totally Shakira) look. She wore a black corset—complete with several sets of laces—reminiscent of look 47 from Dolce & Gabanna’s fall 2018 collection. Staying true to her love of cargo pants, she donned a black silk pair, and accessorized with towering black platform boots, and a Dion Lee bag lined with silver chain.
So, whether or not you’re a believer in color analysis or any of that, we should all be in agreement that Shakira’s black and silver combo is serving her.
