Sydney Sweeney is giving her own spin on a classic outfit. The actor has been running around New York in a litany of black dresses that are a far cry from the basic LBD.
Sweeney, who is in town promoting her new Italian convent-based horror film, Immaculate, went dark with her talk show ensembles. This morning, she headed to film a segment on The View wearing a black long-sleeved minidress—look 15 from Versace’s spring 2024 collection–outfitted with a zipper that runs runs down the body, from the neckline to the hemline. The dress exaggerated her figure, featuring a nipped waist, shoulder pads, and pockets at the hips. Styled by Molly Dickson, the two gave the look a retro touch, accessorizing with sheer black tights, black pointy-toed pumps, a black Versace handbag, and cat-eye sunglasses.
While the actor decided to keep with the all-black theme when she headed to TODAY, Sweeney opted for much more of an edge. She wore a Khaite ribbed-knit wool and leather midi dress from spring 2024. The drop waist dress hugged her figure, though her accessorizing leaned away from the ladylike sheen of her Versace moment. She hardened her leather outfit with a pair of pointy-toed boots adorned with multiple buckles—something of a cross between a biker boot and a stiletto—carried a black croc clutch, and wore rectangular sunglasses.
Whether she’s going for a sweeter, more feminine look, or leaning into rocker chic, Sydney Sweeney is showing that there’s no wrong way to wear a black dress.
