Elle Fanning was into quiet luxury before it was a popular. While the actor is known to take a major fashion risk on the red carpet now and again (who can forget that jaw-dropping Paco Rabanne moment at Cannes?), she always returns to her sartorial staples: neutral colors, excellent tailoring, and old-school fashion rules. Her mother-daughter shopping excursion yesterday in SoHo proved no exceptions.
The actor, who recently made her Broadway debut in Appropriate, where she played the free-spirited, tattooed River, returned to her normal personal style for her outing. Sticking to her beloved lighter tones, she wore a white T-shirt with high-waisted, off-white trousers that she cinched with a thin belt. The oversized pants pooled around her feet, spilling over her tan loafers. Enjoying the temperate weather, Fanning only needed a long peachy cashmere cardigan to keep her warm.
Only one part of Fanning’s outfit betrayed any interest in labels: her Prada shopping bag. The Emmy nominee, who appeared in her first Miu Miu campaign at 14-years-old, has been a longtime friend of Mrs. Prada. “[Mrs. Prada] knows what girls want and what women want,” Fanning told British Vogue in 2019. “She keeps the fun.” Judging by her shopping habits, it’s clear that she still sticks by her words.
