Hunter Schafer has once again taken a dip in the Prada archives.
For the SXSW premiere of her forthcoming horror film, Cuckoo, Schafer and her stylist Dara Allen turned to Mrs. Prada for sartorial guidance. The actor wore a look from the fall 2007 collection, originally worn on the runway by Vlada Roslyakova: a buttery yellow double-breasted jacket and matching knee-length skirt, paired with orange-and-butternut leg-warmers, and a gray beanie with a green stripe and a plasticky sheen. Schafer finished off the look with a pair of brown satin pointy-toed heels.
Sure, anyone can pull the dreamy, flowing cotton candy dresses from spring 2024 (Schafer even did so twice, wearing a full-length pink iteration to the Golden Globes and a blue mini to the opening of Pradasphere II in Shanghai), but not everyone is given the keys to Mrs. Prada’s inner sanctum.
Schafer has proven herself a true Prada girl, wearing the Italian label twice this week, alone. At the Vanity Fair Oscars party, she donned a two-piece pistachio skirt set from the spring 2013 collection. She’s opted for recreations in the past, too. For the London premiere of The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes, she wore a custom gold bra, bolero, and maxi skirt based on the spring 2009 collection.
It’s safe to say that the looks that emerge from Schafer, Dara, and the Prada team’s collaboration always leave our jaws on the floor. We’re already eager to see what their next meeting of the minds will yield.
