Ahead of the weekend’s Academy Awards ceremony, Chloe and Leah Faye Cooper, Vogue’s digital style director, sat down in the studio with stylist Danielle Goldberg to talk about dressing some of today’s biggest It girls for awards season. Danielle is the woman behind many of the chicest red carpet looks sported by Ayo Edebiri, Greta Lee, Olivia Rodrigo, Kaia Gerber, and others. Part of Danielle’s process includes keeping files on all of her girls, containing reference images that might be a work of art, or, in the case of Ayo doing her SNL promos, the storybook character Stuart Little. Her obsessive knowledge of designer collections, passion for vintage, and precise eye to tailoring has made for some of the best red carpets moments of late—from Ayo’s Whoopi Goldberg-inspired look from the Row for the Critics Choice Awards, to absolutely everything Greta Lee wears.
She shares with Chloe and Leah that she comes from quite a stylish family—both of her sisters are influencers, and when she was growing up her parents and grandfather were some of her most formative style inspirations. Danielle got her start, like many of the greats, as an intern at Vogue after a chance encounter with editor Karla Martínez de Salas on a family vacation. Looking back on her entrance into the fashion world, she credits her time in editorial with helping her to stand out in the celebrity-styling sphere. At the end of their conversation, Leah asks the question we are all wondering: Does Danielle have any interest in designing? (You’ll have to tune in to hear her answer.)
Also on today’s episode, The Run-Through listeners get another dispatch from Paris as the marathon that is fashion month finally comes to its end. Chioma is joined by Vogue’s Nicole Phelps and British Vogue’s Laura Ingham to talk through show highlights and overall trends from this season—utilitarian boots are back! Female pleasure is also in, according to Nicole, who cited the Hermès horses and motorbikes theme and the Coperni pockets as proof. Chioma gave a rave review of the Miu Miu show, which featured a well-rounded, cross-generational cast, including hip hop star Little Simz. She also felt like this season marked a comeback for Balenciaga, and was a fan of the bra-dress contraptions. The group universally praised Jun Takahashi’s Undercover show and its ode to the working mother, too.
This was also a season of designer debuts, with Chemena Kamali showing her first collection at Chloé and Sean McGirr making his Alexander McQueen debut. Chloé made waves for the front row display of chunky wedges, and the message was clear: boho-chic is coming back. The McQueen show divided fashion lovers more than most, but Sarah Burton left some big shoes to fill, and we’ll have to give McGirr some time to settle into his appointment. And, of course, with Sunday’s big red carpet on the horizon, the group had some speculations on which dresses are heading straight to Los Angeles.
