Holidays are the perfect excuse to go hard with your manicure. But some holidays, like Valentine’s Day, lend themselves more to pretty nail art than others, like St. Patrick’s Day. But rest assured—even if you don’t want to go full-on leprechaun with your nails, you can still rock a festive, dare I say, stylish St. Patty’s mani.
“A great way to create a chic yet festive St Patrick’s Day nail look is to opt for a solid color or minimalistic nail art,” says Mazz Hanna, manicurist and CEO of Nailing Hollywood. Short, square nail shapes are trending right now, and minimalistic nail art works really well on a shorter length and gives off a polished look.”
The first step to a St. Patrick’s Day mani is a great shade of green. Hanna recommends Hermes Vert Égyptien, Gelcare Kelly Green, Dazzle Dry Fame, and Dazzle Dry Self-Made.
Once you've got your colors, you can experiment with tons of different nail looks. Ahead, browse 26 chic St. Patrick's Day nail looks.
Chromatic Clover
The most literal St. Patrick’s Day nail look on this list features clovers in three shades of green, including one gold-ish green chrome color. It’s a mix-and-match look that is festive without being too over-the-top.
Springy Florals
This sage green nail look features itty bitty white-and-gold flowers accented by a few gold clovers. The clovers are so subtle that you may not even notice them at first glance, making this a great, understated, yet on-theme look.
Green Mix
This olive green, white, and black design features a fun mix of florals, checker print, and smiley faces. Most of the nails feature a sheer nude base, keeping the look from looking super busy.
Matte Green
This spring look uses a deep blue-toned green and a sheer nude for a simple look. The design features French tips and foliage topped with a matte finish.
Kelly Green Floral
Go bright with this Kelly green design, which uses the punchy color as a base for white-and-pink flowers.
Green French
Hanna shares that a green French manicure is a great festive yet understated way to celebrate St. Patty's day with your mani. This look uses a deep evergreen.
Chrome 3D Blobs
This green 3D nail look is festive only in color. It features a nude sheer base adorned with abstract 3D blobs finished in green chrome.
Subtle Shimmer
This deep glossy green manicure is finished off with the tiniest bit of gold shimmer. At the base of a few nails sits either a double half circle or a sunburst for a super subtle celebratory vibe.
Floral Accent
This clover green manicure features a big 'ol daisy on each ring finger. To keep the look minimalist, the center of the flower is the same shade of green as the other fingers.
Checkered Green
This deep and glossy green look features a mix of solids, checkers, and French tips. The sheer beige color used on the patterned nails is the perfect nude for this client's skin tone.
Green on Green
This sweet look features a sage green base topped with a few sprigs of green leaves. The combo yields a super pretty and understated look.
Green Hearts
This nude manicure gets a little visual interest from hearts. The hearts — done in cream, sage, and olive — are painted in two different patterns to add even more detail.
Monochrome Evergreen
This look keeps it simple, with just a deep, blue-toned, evergreen shade across the nails. The color looks gorge on these squoval-shaped nails.
Chartreuse Shimmer
This nail look was done with Glacial ($12) by Krisable Designs. It’s a super gorgeous shimmery green polish that reflects copper, depending on the angle.
Touch of Green
Green is more of a supporting actor than a main in this look, but it still adds a touch of festive charm to the look. Each nail features a milky pastel finished with a single gold chrome heart and matte top coat.
Textured Green
This green polish, Cirque Colors’ Serpentine ($14), features big iridescent flakes that create shades of gold and copper. It adds a layer of depth to the olive polish.
Khaki Green
Go for a khaki green hue for a subdued St. Patrick's Day manicure. Complete with perfectly groomed nails and cuticles, the color speaks for itself.
Iridescent Chrome
This otherworldly look is brought to life with a blend of green chrome powders. The greens serve as the backdrop for a green-based gold, with a gem-encrusted 3D design in the center of each nail.
Pink to Green
For a super springy yet festive look, go for a gradient. This design features a hot pink that fades to a neon green, topped with subtle glitter and chrome powder.
Plaid Accent
This mystical design features snakes, gems, and pearls for a fun and daring look. The use of plaid makes this look feel fitting for the holiday, in addition to the color palette.
Polka Dots
Polka dots are a fun and easy way to add interest to any nail look. This one uses deep green and neon yellow.
Abstract Lines
Deep green, neon green, and a milky white come together in this abstract nail look. It’s super easy to recreate using a nail art brush like the Fleury Rose Mini Liner Brush ($15).
Gray-Green
For a cool-toned look, drench your nails in a green polish with gray undertones. It creates a moody look without being dark.
Neon Green Tips
St. Patrick's Day nails don't need to stick to more traditional shades of green. This one uses a bright neon shade for a punchy French mani.
Shimmer Green Tips
This French tip look features an overlap of mint green and shimmery emerald to create an angular design.
Mermaid Vibes
This shimmery green look gives big mermaid vibes. It's complete with iridescent green hues and gold decals.
